Rep. Donna Scheuren has announced that a 35-acre crop farm in Lower Frederick Township, owned by William and Janet Luyben, has been purchased by the state of Pennsylvania for preservation. This acquisition aims to protect the farmland from future commercial or residential development.

The purchase is part of a larger $6,765,102 investment initiative aimed at acquiring development rights for 1,953 acres across 28 farms in 16 counties throughout Pennsylvania. Funding for the preservation of the Luyben Farm will be sourced from three contributors: $237,585 from the state of Pennsylvania, $30,400 from Montgomery County, and $30,000 from Lower Frederick Township.

"I am so happy to see even more farmland preserved to help protect our agricultural industry," stated Rep. Scheuren. "With this most recent purchase, 3 farms or 113-acres of active cropland have been conserved in the 147th District since I was sworn into office last year. You have my word that I will continue to fight for more farmland to be preserved and protected from development in our area."
