Senator Tracy Pennycuick presented a $136,739 grant to the New Hanover Township Police Department. The funding was secured through the Department of Community and Economic Development and was announced on Monday night.

The police department plans to use this grant to upgrade its technology by acquiring state-of-the-art dashboard cameras and equipping officers with body-worn cameras. These enhancements aim to improve public safety while increasing transparency and accountability.

“This grant is a significant investment in the safety of our officers and the trust of our community,” said Pennycuick. “These technological advancements will not only improve public safety but also enhance transparency and accountability.”

The upgrades are expected to better equip officers in serving the community, fostering greater trust within the department.
