Rep. Donna Scheuren announced that several schools in the 147th House District have been awarded grants by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s School Safety and Security Committee. Two nonpublic schools, Dock Mennonite Academy and Souderton Vantage Academy, each received $75,000 in targeted school safety grants.

In addition, four school districts secured funding for school safety and mental health initiatives. Boyertown Area School District was awarded $221,273, Perkiomen Valley School District received $190,233, Pottsgrove School District obtained $157,577, and Souderton Area School District got $217,929.

"This funding is critical for further investment into our area schools," said Scheuren. "Making sure our schools are safe is a top priority of mine and this grant money will keep school officials focused on their security needs for either newer equipment, advanced communications, enhanced surveillance, or even more school resource police officers."
