Senator Tracy Pennycuick and Representative Donna Scheuren have announced the allocation of grant funding for several projects in Montgomery County through the Pennsylvania Local Share Account (LSA) program. The grants aim to support a range of community initiatives, including infrastructure development and emergency services enhancement.
The projects benefiting from this funding include:
- Douglass Township will receive $527,854 to purchase new municipal equipment, specifically a leaf vacuum and a dual-axle truck chassis.
- Lower Salford Township has been allocated $244,000 to rehabilitate 180 feet of the Skippack Creek streambank near the Mainland Treatment Plant. This will involve excavation, erosion control installation, and native species landscaping.
- Upper Pottsgrove Township is set to receive $71,891 for new police equipment, which includes a new police SUV with upfitted equipment to replace an older vehicle.
- An additional $278,558 is granted to Douglass Township for acquiring a new asphalt paver for road and public trail maintenance.
- Lower Frederick Township will benefit from $400,000 to allow the Lower Frederick Fire Company to purchase a new firetruck as a replacement for their 1999 model.
- Boyertown Borough will use $350,000 for purchasing and installing a backup generator at the wastewater treatment plant located in Douglas Township.
- Finally, Lower Salford Township has been awarded $650,000 to rehabilitate sewer infrastructure on Manor and Alderfer Roads.
Senator Pennycuick expressed her enthusiasm about the funding: “I’m thrilled that these vital projects in our districts have received this funding,” she said. “These investments will enhance our communities by providing essential services, improving infrastructure, and promoting environmental sustainability. I’m grateful for the partnership with Representative Scheuren and the Commonwealth Financing Authority in making these improvements possible.”
Representative Scheuren also shared her satisfaction: “I am happy to see this important funding approved for projects across my district,” she stated. “Not only will it help one municipality with their heavy equipment needs, another with their environmental improvements and a third with upgrades to their emergency services, but all of the funding will go to enhancing the lives of their citizens.”
