Senator Tracy Pennycuick has announced the allocation of $3.7 million in grants for various projects in Berks and Montgomery counties. The funding is provided by the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Local Share Account Statewide program, which distributes gaming revenues under the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act to support community and economic development initiatives.
In Berks County, Bally Borough will receive $366,568 for municipal building renovations and an emergency generator purchase. Bechtelsville Borough is allocated $69,103 for new playground equipment at Bechtelsville Park Playground. Douglass Township will use $166,400 to restore curbs along Garber and Maple Avenues. Topton Borough receives $419,438 for a new EMS vehicle for Topton Ambulance.
Montgomery County projects include Schwenksville Borough's renovation of Perkiomen Valley Library with $999,754. Lower Pottsgrove Township is granted $150,270 for a new radio system for emergency services personnel. North Wales Borough will spend $360,355 on new public works vehicles. Collegeville Borough plans to upgrade stormwater infrastructure with its $250,000 grant.
Other allocations include North Penn Water Authority receiving $100,000 to replace an elevator; Towamencin Township's Grist Mill Park improvements funded by $175,000; Pottstown Area Economic Development's streetscaping improvements with a $90,000 grant; Perkiomen Township's public works equipment purchase at $70,000; Schwenksville Borough's transportation infrastructure improvements supported by a further $100,000; and Towamencin Municipal Authority replacing asbestos pipes within Skippack Creek interceptor using a $400,000 grant.
Senator Pennycuick stated her advocacy was instrumental in securing these funds aimed at enhancing public interest and fostering community growth.
