Rep. Donna Scheuren announced the acquisition of a 35-acre crop farm in Lower Frederick Township by Pennsylvania for farmland preservation. Owned by William and Janet Luyben, this purchase aims to protect the land from future commercial or residential development.

The initiative is part of a larger $6,765,102 investment that secures development rights for 1,953 acres on 28 farms across 16 counties in Pennsylvania. The funding for preserving the Luyben Farm involves contributions from three sources: $237,585 from the state of Pennsylvania, $30,400 from Montgomery County, and $30,000 from Lower Frederick Township.

"I am so happy to see even more farmland preserved to help protect our agricultural industry," said Scheuren. "With this most recent purchase, 3 farms or 113-acres of active crop land have been conserved in the 147th District since I was sworn into office last year. You have my word, that I will continue to fight for more farmland to be preserved and protected from development in our area."
