Representative Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) has disclosed that various school districts within the 147th District have been granted funds by the School Safety and Security Committee (SSSC) to enhance safety, security, and mental health support. Scheuren expressed her satisfaction, stating, "I am thrilled to see numerous school districts in the 147th receive this important funding. Making sure our students are safe and have strong mental health will only improve the standard of learning in our districts. I know this funding will be put to good use and help our students feel secure in their schools."

The funding, totaling $155 million, was approved by the SSSC from federal and state school safety allocations in the FY 2023-24 budget. It was allocated through various grant programs aimed at bolstering school safety and mental health initiatives. The recipients of these grants in the 147th District include North Montco Tech Career Center, Boyertown Area School District, Perkiomen Valley School District, Pottsgrove School District, Souderton Area School District, Souderton Charter School Collective, and Western Montgomery CTC.

These grants were distributed across different categories such as Noncompetitive School Mental Health Grants, Formula-Based School Safety and Security Meritorious Grants, Competitive School Safety and Security Grants, and Targeted School Safety Grants for Nonpublic Schools. The funds are designated for a range of purposes including mental health and behavioral health support, physical security enhancements, and resources for students.

The grants received by the aforementioned districts in the 147th District varied in amounts and were allocated from different grant programs to address specific safety and mental health needs within the educational institutions.
