HARRISBURG – The Mennonite Historians of Eastern Pennsylvania History Museum (MHEPHM) has received two grants to support its operations and expansion. The museum, located in Eastern Pennsylvania, received a $16,589 grant from the Pennsylvania Arts and Culture Recovery Program, as well as a $4,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
The grants will be used to fund operating costs, develop new programs, and improve marketing efforts for the museum and historical site. Representative Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) expressed her excitement about the funding, stating, "I am so excited to see these grants awarded to an information source that is excellent on area history. This allows for the Mennonite Historians of Eastern Pennsylvania History Museum to receive important funding for the expansion of new programs and experiences benefiting both visitors and residents throughout the area."
The Pennsylvania Arts and Culture Recovery Program aims to support arts and cultural organizations that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The grant received by the MHEPHM will help ensure the museum's financial stability and enable it to continue preserving and promoting the history of Eastern Pennsylvania.
In addition to the grant from the Pennsylvania Arts and Culture Recovery Program, the MHEPHM also received a grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. This additional funding will further contribute to the museum's growth and allow for the implementation of new initiatives.
The MHEPHM serves as an invaluable resource for scholars, researchers, and history enthusiasts interested in Mennonite history in Eastern Pennsylvania. The museum's exhibits and programs offer a comprehensive overview of the region's rich history, providing visitors with a deeper understanding of the Mennonite community's contributions and experiences.
The grants awarded to the MHEPHM will support the museum's mission to educate and engage the public through its collections and programs. With this funding, the MHEPHM will be able to enhance its offerings and attract a wider audience, both locally and beyond.
The MHEPHM expresses its gratitude to the Pennsylvania Arts and Culture Recovery Program and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission for their support. These grants will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the museum's ability to continue its important work of preserving and sharing the history of Eastern Pennsylvania.
