Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) has announced the approval of state funding assistance for fourteen redevelopment projects across the 24th Senate District in Montgomery and Berks Counties. The funding, approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through various programs, will ensure the maintenance and improvement of critical infrastructure in the region.
"These projects will ensure that critical points of infrastructure within Montgomery and Berks Counties receive maintenance required to continue serving residents across the region," said Pennycuick.
The funding was provided through the H2O PA Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Water Projects Program, the Small Water and Sewer Program Projects Program, and the PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program.
The H2O PA program focuses on the construction and renovation of drinking water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer projects. Among the beneficiaries of this program are the Lower Pottsgrove Township Authority, which will receive $361,144 for the replacement and rehabilitation of sanitary sewer lines, and the North Wales Water Authority, which will use $500,000 to replace a water main in Upper Gwynedd Township.
Amity Township has also been awarded $1.75 million to assist with the construction of expansions to its Wastewater Treatment Plant, while the Schwenksville Borough Authority will receive $575,682 for repairs to the wastewater tank located in the Borough. In addition, Pottstown Borough will use $744,073 to repair a stormwater arch.
The Small Water and Sewer Program provides grants for small water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure projects. Topton Borough will receive $185,000 for the replacement of a water main, and the Upper Montgomery Joint Authority will receive $423,576 for a lateral lining and rehabilitation project in several boroughs. Upper Gwynedd Township will receive $421,231 for a storm sewer renovation project, and the Berks-Montgomery Municipal Authority will use $276,617 for a sanitary sewer rehabilitation in two locations.
The PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program (PACR) has also awarded grants to support the stability of the arts and culture sector in Pennsylvania. The Community Music School of Collegeville will receive $24,913 to cover operating and marketing expenses, while the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center will use $21,227 to cover operating costs. Steel River Playhouse will receive $20,621 to offset lost revenue and cover operational costs.
The funding provided through these programs will have a significant impact on the redevelopment and improvement of infrastructure in Montgomery and Berks Counties. The projects will not only ensure the continued provision of essential services but also contribute to the stability and growth of the arts and culture sector in the region.
