Montgomery County Community College issued the following announcement.
Montgomery County Community College Foundation will hold its annual Day of Giving on Dec. 8 with the goal of raising $5,600 or more to help students with living costs, financial needs, technology needs, tuition and other education-related needs so they can continue their education and reach their goals.
Fifty-six years ago the founders of Montgomery County Community College had a vision to make college education affordable and accessible for all learners. Continuing that vision today and in honor of those early leaders, the MCCC Foundation will be holding its annual Day of Giving on Dec. 8—MCCC’s Founders’ Day.
During the 24-hour challenge, MCCC Foundation is asking for donations of any amount with a minimum goal of $5,600, and the hope of raising much more to help students. This year more than ever students are facing unprecedented hardships, including loss of employment and food and housing insecurities.
Every gift will make a difference. Donations will be used for student emergency support for three areas of greatest need. The Student Emergency Fund will help students with living costs and other financial needs. The Technology Fund will help to purchase laptops and related equipment. The General Scholarships Fund will help with other education-related costs, including tuition, textbooks, supplies, uniforms, etc.
The College is also encouraging anyone who is willing to start their own “fundraiser” by simply creating a webpage and sharing it with those in their network on social media. “Peer-to-Peer fundraising is a new addition to the giving options to the College,” said Jay Browning, CFRE, Vice President for Advancement at the College.
