Brandon Fry, general manager of Unique Indoor Comfort's Philadelphia region, said the company was originally formed in 2011 to fill gaps in the home service industry.
He said the company is still filling those gaps, as it was acquired by Ace Hardware earlier this month.
"They (co-founders Nate Kukla, current Ace Hardware Home Services CEO, and Graham Lucard, current Ace Hardware Home Services regional vice president) felt as though there was a gaping hole in the home services industry as far as providing a good experience, an exceptional experience at every interaction," Fry told West Montgomery Times. "So they together at Nates kitchen table kind of concocted this idea, this dream of reinventing, innovating the home services industry and trying to make it a nationwide experience."
Fry got involved in the business when a colleague of his, with whom he had a long-standing working relationship prior to joining Unique Indoor Comfort, had left their former company to become part of Unique. This colleague, upon joining Unique, enthusiastically conveyed the company's exciting beginnings, emphasizing its ground-up development and the remarkable leadership team in place. Following multiple discussions with Nate, Fry decided to pursue this opportunity. Despite initial apprehensions, stemming from his transition from a multi-million-dollar corporation to a nascent venture with fewer than 10 employees, Fry recognized the tremendous potential and made the confident decision to join the team.
According to their website, Unique Heating and Cooling offers repairing, maintenance, and instillation for both heating and cooling. They've also added electrical services and hope to add plumbing to their portfolio by the end of the year.
While Unique Heating and Cooling's primary service areas are Phoenixville, Conshohocken, and King of Prussia, they're also extensively involved in projects within the Chestnut Hill and Mount Airy neighborhoods. They've established a partnership with Woodward, the owner of numerous properties in Chestnut Hill, holding a comprehensive contract encompassing all of Woodward's properties. Additionally, due to the presence of several Unique employees residing in the Haverford Upper Garby area, the company frequently undertakes projects in that region.
In August of 2023, Unique Heating and Cooling was acquired by Ace Hardware, according to a press release. The company noted that they're eager for the partnership and having access to Ace's extensive resources.
