The Telford Borough Authority has secured a $9.8 million grant from PENNVEST for a significant drinking water project, as announced by Representatives Craig Staats, Shelby Labs, and Donna Scheuren. This funding will support the installation of granular-activated carbon filter vessels to treat perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water wells located in Telford Borough, West Rockhill Township, and Hilltown Township.
Each of the five systems involved in this project will require the construction of new buildings or additions to house these vessels, along with necessary accessories. Representative Staats expressed his approval, stating, “It is incredible to see PENNVEST approve this necessary funding for the Telford Borough Authority. This will not only improve the quality of my constituents' drinking water in Telford and West Rockhill but make the system run more efficiently as well.”
Representative Labs highlighted the direct benefits for Hilltown Township residents serviced by the authority: “I’m happy to support continued investments in infrastructure that improves our water quality.”
Scheuren emphasized the project's importance for her constituents on the Montgomery side of Telford Borough: “I am thrilled to see this vital funding come through for Telford Borough... it will offer technological advances in filtration, additional peace of mind to all the residents regarding their drinking water.”
