Montgomery County Community College issued the following announcement.

Montgomery County Community College earned Campus Prevention Network's Seal of Prevention award for its work to ensure the well-being, safety and inclusion of its students.

Campus Prevention Network (CPN) recently presented Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) with its esteemed 2020 Seal of Prevention award for the College’s proactive, holistic work to ensure the well-being, safety and inclusion of its students.

“Montco is honored to be named among the first higher education recipients of the CPN Seal of Prevention,” said Adriene Hobdy, Director of Leadership Development and Talent Management at MCCC. “We are committed to ensuring that all students receive the comprehensive support they need to be successful through training our faculty and staff in these vital areas.”

The CPN Seal of Prevention recipients are selected based upon their implementation of digital, evidence-based prevention education on issues such as sexual assault, alcohol misuse, mental health and discrimination.

MCCC specifically deploys the modules to faculty and staff addressing the areas of data security and privacy, conduct and ethics, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), sexual assault prevention (including Title IX) and alcohol awareness and prevention.

Through these modules, MCCC can promote student, faculty and staff health and safety with education that supports mental health and well-being, prepares students to recognize and respond to sexual assault and harassment and explore key concepts like identity, power and privilege through real-life scenarios. MCCC has been using the modules for four years.

The CPN Seal of Prevention awards are presented by EVERFI, an education technology company, and Parchment, a credentialing service that allows learners, academic institutions and employers to request, verify and share credentials in simple and secure ways.

This year’s CPN Seal of Prevention 594 higher education recipients are the first-ever to receive this honorable distinction. As part of the recognition, EVERFI will promote the Seal of Prevention schools on Parchment’s College Profile Pages and the annual Student Choice Survey, which numerous students use.
