Kids Answer the Age-Old Question… “What Is Love?"

Kiddie Academy of Collegeville issued the following announcement on Feb. 10.

Ah, the mind of a child…so innocent, so honest, and oftentimes hilarious! As adults, sometimes all we need to remind us what is truly important in life is to see the world through the eyes of a child.

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we decided to look to our Kiddie Academy kids to provide an answer to the age-old question: “What is love?”

While adults may measure love in acts of service, words of affirmation, and quality time—children lean more on the scale of snacks, hugs, and boxed mac and cheese as expressions of true affection.

Wise Words From Our Experts

Here is what some of our subject matter experts, ages 3-10, had to say:

“Love is a hug…I need a snack, please.” -Claire, age 3

“Hugs from mommy. I love my grandma. Thanking friends for sharing.” -Owen, age 5

“Hugging people and kissing. Giving nice manners.” -Grayson, age 5

“Love is snuggles with family.” -Oliver, age 4

“When you trust someone or have a special connection. Or sometimes you just see someone and it’s like BAM! You just fall in love.” – Clara, age 10
