Senators Frank Farry, Tracy Pennycuick, and Joe Picozzi announced that SEPTA will operate special express trains for the Philadelphia Eagles home opener on September 4. The service will be available after a sponsorship agreement was reached between SEPTA, the Philadelphia Eagles, and FanDuel to fund the train operations.
SEPTA had previously planned to cancel its sports express train service as part of initial cost-cutting measures. In response to this potential cancellation, the senators arranged for Uber to serve as an alternate sponsor if necessary. This move was intended to maintain safe and reliable transportation options for fans attending the game.
“SEPTA’s special express trains will run for the Eagles home opener tomorrow night, September 4. SEPTA and the Philadelphia Eagles were able to secure a sponsorship deal with FanDuel to cover the costs,” stated Senators Farry, Pennycuick, and Picozzi in their announcement.
If no agreement had been reached with FanDuel, Uber would have stepped in as a sponsor to ensure continued service for event attendees.
