Senator Tracy Pennycuick announced on Apr. 9 that she will partner with the Pennsylvania Treasury to host Unclaimed Property Day in the 24th District, offering local residents help in finding and claiming unclaimed assets. The event is scheduled at two locations: Montgomery County Community College in Pottstown from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and Trappe Borough Hall from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The initiative aims to assist residents of the district in recovering funds that may have been forgotten or overlooked. According to Senator Pennycuick, “Unclaimed Property Day is a chance for residents of the 24th District to access funds that may have been forgotten or overlooked. My office is committed to helping constituents navigate the process and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to recover what is theirs.”
During the event, staff from Senator Pennycuick’s office and representatives from the Pennsylvania Treasury will help attendees search for unclaimed property using the state database. Claims under $500 can be approved on-site, while larger claims may require additional documentation and follow-up.
Pennycuick has a background in public service through her military career and participation on veteran boards, contributing support for veterans and law enforcement according to her official website. She served for 26 years in the U.S. Army, including active duty during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, retiring as a lieutenant colonel according to her official website. She began her military career as a combat medic before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1987 according to her official website.
Pennycuick was elected to the Pennsylvania Senate in 2022 after serving previously in the General Assembly according to her official website. She lives with her husband—also an Army veteran—in Harleysville; they have four grown children and two grandchildren according to her official website.
The broader impact of Unclaimed Property Day could be seen if more districts adopt similar outreach events aimed at connecting citizens with their unclaimed assets.
