Senator Tracy Pennycuick, a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate, recently used her social media platform to announce legislative developments and public warnings related to child protection, adoption support, and veteran safety.
On November 19, 2025, Senator Pennycuick posted about the passage of a bill in the state legislature: ” #PASenate Passes SB 1050: Mandated reporters must now notify authorities of all child sexual abuse material, including #AI-generated content.” This message highlighted new requirements for mandated reporters to report any form of child sexual abuse material, explicitly including content generated by artificial intelligence.
The following day, November 20, 2025, Senator Pennycuick drew attention to National Adoption Month and introduced another piece of legislation. She wrote: “November is #NationalAdoptionMonth. I introduced SB 1084, the Child Adoption Tax Credit, to help more PA kids find the loving, permanent homes they deserve. My bill offers a refundable $1,000 tax credit to support families who finalize an adoption.” The proposed tax credit aims to reduce financial barriers for families seeking to adopt children in Pennsylvania.
Later that same day, Senator Pennycuick issued a warning targeting military veterans regarding fraudulent communications. In her post she stated: ” Veteran Scam Alert A fake mailer called the “PA Veteran Savings Program 2025” is targeting veterans, claiming they can get an extra $160/mo. It looks official, but it’s NOT real. If you get this postcard, don’t call, verify any claims directly with @PADMVA at 800-547-2838.” She advised recipients of such mailers not to respond and instead confirm information through official channels with the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (PADMVA).
Pennsylvania lawmakers have increasingly focused on updating laws concerning technology-related crimes against children as digital content creation tools evolve. Measures like SB 1050 reflect broader national efforts to address the risks posed by AI-generated illegal material.
Support for adoptive families has also been a recurring issue in state legislatures nationwide. By proposing a refundable tax credit through SB 1084 during National Adoption Month—a time recognized annually in November—Senator Pennycuick aligns with initiatives intended to encourage more adoptions and provide stability for children needing permanent homes.
The warning about veteran scams comes amid ongoing concerns about fraudulent schemes targeting former service members. The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs provides resources and verification services for veterans who may receive suspicious offers or communications.
