Pennycuick is known for her extensive public service background, including a 26-year career in the U.S. Army where she retired as a lieutenant colonel after serving in Desert Shield/Desert Storm and holding various key assignments (official website). She began her military service as a combat medic before earning a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1987 (official website).
