Senator Tracy Pennycuick recently welcomed Reverend James M. Cox to the Pennsylvania Senate, where he served as the guest chaplain by delivering the opening prayer before a legislative session.

Reverend Cox was ordained in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1998 and has dedicated his life to serving others through ministry. He is currently leading Saint Mary Catholic Church in Schwenksville, offering spiritual guidance and leadership to the community.

“A Pennsylvania native and the second of nine children, Father Cox’s deep commitment to faith, family, and service has been evident throughout his ministry,” said Senator Pennycuick. “His work in multiple pastoral assignments, including at Annunciation B.V.M. in Havertown and Holy Cross/Madeline Sophia in Mt. Airy, reflects his unwavering dedication to his calling.”

Father Cox also spent seven years in High School Ministry and served as parochial vicar at Holy Innocents in Hunting Park, Philadelphia. Outside of his ministerial duties, he engages in outdoor activities such as sporting clays, fishing, and bird hunting with his German Wirehaired Pointer, Blaise.

“It was a privilege to introduce Father Cox and recognize his contributions to our community and beyond,” Senator Pennycuick added. “We extend our gratitude for his service and warmly welcome him to the Senate.”

Eric Cox, Father Cox’s cousin, was also in attendance for the occasion.
