Senator Tracy Pennycuick and Pennsylvania Auditor General Timothy DeFoor made a visit to North Penn High School to highlight the importance of financial literacy among students. Their visit included meetings with school district leaders and an open discussion with students from the school’s personal finance classes.
Senator Pennycuick and Auditor General DeFoor were greeted by Dr. Todd Bauer, the Superintendent of North Penn School District, along with other key administrators, including Dr. D’Ana Waters, Dr. Pete Nicholson, and Mr. Kyle Hassler, the Principal of North Penn High School.
The event emphasized the importance of teaching strong financial habits early on, with Senator Pennycuick advocating for equipping students with the necessary knowledge to make informed financial decisions. “Empowering students with financial literacy is one of the most impactful ways we can prepare them for success after graduation,” stated Pennycuick. She expressed gratitude to North Penn High School for prioritizing financial education and giving students a chance to engage with state leaders.
Auditor General DeFoor, who has held his role since 2020, discussed his experiences in investigative finance during the visit. He thanked North Penn High School for setting a standard in financial literacy education, asserting it as a model for the state. “This month I had the privilege of visiting classrooms across the state to see firsthand how financial literacy is being taught at all grade levels,” said DeFoor. “North Penn High School stands out as a model because its educators are clearly committed to preparing students for a brighter, more financially secure future.”
The focus on financial literacy is part of a statewide effort to incorporate such education into curriculums at all grade levels. North Penn High School’s commitment to these efforts was acknowledged and praised during the visit by both officials.
