Multiple fire and EMS companies in Pennsylvania’s 147th District will receive grants from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner, according to an announcement by Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery).

“I’m thrilled to announce that eleven fire and EMS companies across our 147th District have received these vital grants. Our first responders work tirelessly to keep us safe, and this funding will help with everything from updated equipment and training, to facility improvements and debt relief. This grant is an essential step forward in equipping our heroes with the tools they need to protect our communities,” said Scheuren.

The awarded organizations include Gilbertsville Area Community Ambulance Service ($15,000), Gilbertsville Fire and Rescue Co. ($16,136), Harleysville Emergency Medical Service ($15,000), Harleysville Community Fire Co. ($15,930), Lower Frederick Fire Co. ($28,136), Plymouth Community Ambulance Association ($15,000), New Hanover Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services ($28,136), Telford Diving and Rescue Unit ($12,014), Upper Frederick Fire Co. ($16,136), Upper Pottsgrove Township Fire Co. No. 1 ($16,136), and Upper Salford Volunteer Fire Co. ($14,218).

To receive funding, each company must file a grant agreement with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All applicants who meet OSFC requirements are eligible for funding.

Eligible projects for these grants include construction or renovation of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, staff training, or debt reduction. The funding comes from slot machine gaming proceeds rather than general tax revenue.

Rep. Scheuren represents the 147th Legislative District in Pennsylvania and leads subcommittees on technology and transportation issues. She holds a degree in business administration from The College of New Jersey and has decades of experience in manufacturing as well as small business operations. She also served on school boards prior to her legislative role. More information about her background can be found on her official website.

Scheuren resides in Lower Salford Township with her husband.
