Rep. Donna Scheuren has announced that two projects in the 147th District have been awarded grant funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF). The fund supports various transportation-related developments, including enhancements to streetscapes, lighting, sidewalks, pedestrian safety, and transit-oriented development.

The projects receiving grants are located in Lower Salford Township and Upper Pottsgrove Township. Lower Salford Township will receive $449,250 to add a turn lane and sidewalk along Oak Drive. Upper Pottsgrove Township is set to receive $301,500 for safety improvements at the intersection of Cherrytree Lane, Gilbertsville Road, and Sprogels Run Trail.

Rep. Scheuren expressed her support for these initiatives: “This is excellent news for both Lower Salford and Upper Pottsgrove townships, and I was happy to throw my support behind both projects.” She highlighted the benefits of each project, noting traffic issues on Oak Drive in Lower Salford and enhanced connectivity to recreational areas in Upper Pottsgrove.

Senator Tracy Pennycuick collaborated with Rep. Scheuren to secure funding for the Upper Pottsgrove project. Scheuren emphasized the importance of this funding: “Sen. Tracy Pennycuick and I teamed up to request funding for Upper Pottsgrove’s project in its entirety, which is valuable since this funding will complete important plans to make our roads safer, more efficient and improve access to recreation.”
