Pottstown Hospital emphasized its commitment to emergency care and ongoing facility upgrades in a statement released on Mar. 31. Dr. Richard McLaughlin, president and chief executive officer of Pottstown Hospital and Phoenixville Hospital, said that the hospital’s Emergency Department provides round-the-clock services for patients with urgent medical needs.
The hospital serves patients from across the region at all hours, treating conditions such as stroke symptoms, chest pain, injuries from accidents, sudden illnesses, and pediatric emergencies. McLaughlin said that local doctors, nurses, and staff members are dedicated to providing comfort and reassurance during these critical moments.
“Nothing is more meaningful to our team than hearing someone say, ‘Pottstown Hospital’s Emergency Department saved my life.’ It’s a reminder of why we do this work,” McLaughlin said. He added that the hospital’s team trains daily for emergencies to ensure high-quality care.
Earlier this year, Healthgrades awarded Pottstown Hospital five-star ratings in several categories including treatment of heart attacks, sepsis management, and outpatient total knee replacement. The hospital has also received recognition from readers of the Pottstown Mercury as Best Hospital.
The Emergency Department is led by Dr. Neil Gulati and Dr. Ana M Davitt alongside a skilled team equipped with advanced imaging technology and rapid response protocols for cardiac events or strokes. Most patient needs are met on-site; when specialized care is required beyond what can be provided locally, coordination occurs with Tower Health specialists or partner hospitals in Phoenixville and Reading.
McLaughlin also mentioned ongoing physician recruitment efforts in specialties such as orthopedics and general surgery as well as infrastructure improvements throughout the campus expected to continue into early spring. “These investments are all focused on the same goal of continuing to provide prompt, high-quality lifesaving care for generations to come,” he said.
He encouraged community members not to delay seeking emergency attention if experiencing serious symptoms such as chest pain or difficulty breathing: “When an emergency happens and every second counts you can depend on one thing: Pottstown Hospital will be here ready to care for you and your loved ones.”
