Senator Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) is partnering with the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities to host a free educational event aimed at helping residents recognize and prevent financial scams. The program, called Scam Jam, will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Lutheran Home at Topton in Topton, Pennsylvania.

“Protecting our community from financial fraud is a top priority,” said Sen. Pennycuick. “Scammers are constantly finding new ways to target individuals, especially seniors, and events like this give residents the tools and knowledge they need to stay safe. I encourage everyone to join us for this free program and learn how to spot and avoid scams before they happen.”

The event will feature presentations from representatives of several organizations including the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities, Berks County District Attorney’s Office, Berks County Area Agency on Aging, Pennsylvania State Police Department, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, and AARP Pennsylvania.

Senator Pennycuick represents parts of Berks and Montgomery counties in the Pennsylvania Senate. Her legislative focus includes job growth initiatives, support for veterans and law enforcement, education improvements, and fiscal responsibility. She leads the Communications and Technology Committee while also serving on committees related to veterans affairs—a role informed by her military background.

Pennycuick began her public service career by enlisting as a combat medic in the U.S. Army before earning a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1987. Over her 26-year military career—including active duty during Desert Shield/Desert Storm—she retired as a lieutenant colonel after holding key positions in both active duty and reserves (official website).

She has also contributed through roles on veteran boards supporting community efforts for veterans and law enforcement (official website). After serving in the General Assembly, she was elected to the state senate in 2022 (official website). Pennycuick lives in Harleysville with her husband—a fellow Army veteran—their four grown children, and two grandchildren (official website).
