The Berks County Conservation District has been awarded a grant of $143,703 for a streambank restoration project in Pike Township. The funding comes from the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Watershed Restoration and Protection Program. The initiative aims to address public safety and environmental concerns caused by the ongoing deterioration of the streambank along Oysterdale Road.
Senator Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) played a role in securing this grant. She stated, “I was proud to support this vital project. This funding will allow the Conservation District to move forward with essential stormwater and roadway improvements at a site in urgent need of attention. The proposed work will not only enhance vehicle safety but will also contribute to the health and resilience of the surrounding ecosystem.”
The planned restoration is expected to improve both stormwater management and roadway conditions, supporting local infrastructure and environmental goals.
