Rep. Donna Scheuren of Montgomery County has announced that nine fire and EMS companies in the 147th District will receive grants from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC).

“This funding is fantastic news for our local fire and EMS companies,” stated Scheuren. “As a longtime supporter of our firefighters and EMS workers, I know how much this funding is needed, how much it helps and how much good it will do.”

The grants are contingent upon filing a grant agreement with OSFC, but all applicants who meet the outlined requirements will receive funding. The recipients include:

– Gilbertsville Area Community Ambulance Service: $15,000
– Gilbertsville Fire and Rescue Co.: $16,322
– Harleysville Emergency Medical Service: $15,000
– Harleysville Community Fire Co.: $16,322
– Lower Frederick Fire Co.: $28,322
– New Hanover Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services: $28,322
– Upper Frederick Fire Co.: $15,891
– Upper Pottsgrove Township Fire Co. No. 1: $16,322
– Upper Salford Volunteer Fire Co.: $15,246

The funds can be used for projects such as constructing or renovating facilities, purchasing or repairing equipment, training staff, or reducing existing debt. The funding originates from slot machine gaming proceeds rather than General Fund tax revenue.
