Rep. Donna Scheuren announced that New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church has been awarded a $16,250 grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Neighborhood Assistance Program. The funds will support the expansion of the church’s Garden of Hope, which provides food to those in need. The project aims to double its harvest and collaborate with other organizations to enhance community health and well-being by improving food access and affordability.
“I am delighted to see the New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church included in the DCED’s recent grant awardees,” stated Scheuren. “The organization does so much good through its Garden of Hope project. This funding will not only allow it to continue its current efforts but permit it to expand the program to even more people in need of healthy food.”
The Neighborhood Assistance Program offers tax credits to businesses that contribute to nonprofit organizations focused on community revitalization. In this funding round, 218 projects across Pennsylvania will receive support.
