At 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, Derek Volz—a former The Hill School standout—saw his Holy Cross Crusaders suffer an 11-3 defeat to the Portland Pilots in an NCAA Division I baseball contest.

Joe Etzel Field served as the venue for this encounter, the fourth time the two teams faced off this season. One day earlier, on Saturday, March 7, the Crusaders had fallen to the Pilots 13-3.

Volz pitched two innings, surrendering one earned run along with one walk and one strikeout.

The Crusaders are set to face the UMass Minutemen next on Tuesday, March 10, at 3 p.m. at Earl Lorden Field.
